There is the danger, as you point out, that some might try to game the system. That's where recruiting comes in. Fewer schools will take on players who "recruit the school" than in the past.

It's a big commitment on part of the power conference schools but they are using that as a recruiting advantage in an effort to pry that 3* or 4*from going to a G5 school.
