It wipes a major liability off the balance sheet for them. I understand that
it has challenges for the employee, but I totally get why companies are doing it. It also eliminates the concept of "comp time" when you work extra hours or weekends.
The reality is that everybody takes time off, so requesting it shouldn't be an issue. If you are requesting a standard amount of 4-6 weeks, I doubt you are raising any eyebrows.
