My mom used to have that debate with other moms.
Some parents would swear by their kids always having jobs. Some would swear by their kids always working their tails off to get good grades when they aren't at a sports practice. They'd say their kids don't need a job because school is the job and takes so much time. Of those two options and parental approaches (assuming both sets of parents are actively engaged and good parents), it'd be interesting to know which approach has a stronger correlation to future success.
