I have a relative who went all-in on swimming
Her family had the time and resources, they invested heavily in her, and she was incredible. Her junior year in high school she injured her shoulder working out and never got back on track. The end.

Any of you have kids that are competitive swimmers? Looks like my third child

The time v. reward ratio is high on this one.

Indeed. The summer swim meets take hours and hours for seconds of swimming

I don't see how wasting all day at a swim meet is going to help her get better

How's her time vs a great white?

FWIW, girls who are really good as 8 yo are rarely amazing as high schoolers.

Agree with this. Especially for girls. A really good female swimmer

Yes. I also found that the time to reward ratio was, in the end, frustrating.

Does it consumer your life more than other competitive sports?

My daughter started year round swim at 8. I think it's easier than summer swim

Oh, and it's freaking expensive. Seriously. Dues this year (at 9yo) are $1850
