See if he uses and app and if so, what app he uses
If he is using Stronglifts 5x5 I bet he is waiting 3 minutes between each set. That ends up being almost 20 minutes for heavier lifts in order to get warmed up, wait 3 min. between each of the five sets, and the time to actually do the sets.
