Utilities out in office - do you give employees time off, or time off w/pay?
A/C unit in our office is out. Been out since yesterday. Its AZ, so its hot....86 in the office now and really humid. Employees are miserable. Landlord has been trying to get the A/C fixed since yesterday and no success yet, its appearing to be a wiring issue and not actually the A/C. As such it could be a few hours, or a few days until it is fixed.

I'm comfortable giving employees the rest of the day off and was even thinking of paying them. But now the landlord is saying it could be a few days and I dont want to set the precedent of paying today if this thing keeps going more days and just pay people not to come to work.

I'll try to get somethign worked out with the landlord, who is making an honest effort to fix the issue. In the meantime, am I a jerk for not offering to pay for time off?
