I worked for the team and several weeks would be a lot.
You would have to be purposefully avoiding your players to do that. There are only a hand full of QBs on a team and just because the starter gets the most reps does not mean the other guys never throw the ball during practice. The real difference is the starter gets to throw the ball to the starting receivers, TEs, and RBs so that he can develop sharper timing with them. Who throws with the second team? The back up. Some times another guy. Third team etc is the bench warmers and they definitely get limited time on the field.

I don't put much credence in the claim but if it were true than Doman would be an utter fool to not give instruction to his back up QB. The true stat is something like 80% of starting QBs are injured and out of a game at some time during the season, so you better have a capable back up. IF Heaps story were true I would have transferred too.
