You know what's sad...a bunch of people in my ward are not going to the game
in Houston...

Reasons I have heard; it's a late start, so families with kids are having a hard time deciding if they want to bring kids. But what is worse, and I'm saying this totally anonymously for fear of being found out for saying such a terrible thing... but it's wives...

There are wives in my ward who aren't going to "give husbands the night off!" This is sad to me because I think its important to represent BYU well at this game. It's a very visible game - showing up in force enhances our reputation. The alumni association is trying to have a big tailgate - we need to show up in force, even if we're not going in, just to be there. The wives do not understand this...

I'm considering getting up in my ward and delivering an impromptu 'brave-heart' like speech in an effort to gain permission for the husbands to go to the game.
