Beliefs -> Thoughts -> Feelings -> Action -> Results
I like this paradigm I learned, which is summed up in the subject line.

What we believe about ourselves, about others, about God, about the world at large forms what we consciously think about.

What we think about on a regular basis will determine how we feel. Thoughts of lack produce feelings of scarcity. Thoughts about the worst case scenario creates feelings of fear. Thoughts about why we love our spouses, produce feelings of love. Thoughts about the next great product launch or sales call will create feelings of confidence. etc.

The way we feel produces action. If we feel unmotivated, we'll peruse Cougarboard (guilty as charged!!!). If we feel overwhelmed we will act accordingly.

How we continually act will produce the results we get in life.

When someone is acting (or not acting) a certain way or saying what they say, you can see their beliefs behind it, the prism through which they view the world.

Sometimes, people don't even recognize what they're thinking and when you press them on this concept, if they care to change, they will see exactly what it is they believe. If they don't care to change then they'll go along their merry way believing the same beliefs, thinking the same thoughts, feeling how they feel, doing what they do, and getting what they get.

Ultimately, we can only influence people's beliefs, thoughts, feelings & actions. But we can't control them. When we let go of trying to control people, then we can let their beliefs, thoughts, feelings & actions have less control over OUR beliefs, thoughts, feelings and actions.
