His good friend Harvey Langi talked him into the switch
Pretty sure the coaches wanted him right at RB where he first tasted stardom.
Personally, I didn't want to risk the switch. That is, till he'd played about 2 games as LB & you could see the obvious NFL potential.
Kid is a rare athlete by BYU standards.
