Greg Madsen...
I shared a little bit about this guy, Greg Madsen. He passed away from Cancer last month. This kind man touched thousands of lives; I would like to share a story from Deseretnews about him and also a quick story that I personally had.

I have been debating to open up about this, it is not easy to share personal experiences to a bunch of strangers. Anyway, here goes...

Back in 2008 I came back from inactivity and started to go to church (LDS)...looking back at that time, it was one of the greatest summers I have ever had. I lost a lot tho, I lost a wife (divorce) went through an ugly settlement with her, in which it involved my two kids and a stepson. When I came walking through the church doors, looking for the bishop to talk too, it was Greg Madsen who approached me and asked me what I needed. I told him my name and said I needed to speak to the Bishop about some things, that I needed to make right (all this time I am talking to him, I was tearing up and just needed to get in a room and not have anyone see me, for I was seriously insecure and embarrassed). He then told me, and I quote; "Matt, we have been talking about you and your family in ward council..." " you have been missed, you are at the right place..." he then proceeded to direct me to the Bishop...

A few months pass; I am actively going to church, serving where and when I can and just really doing all I can to stay out of trouble...well, BYU football come around. I am renting a room from an LDS family in Santa Cruz, and they do not have access to BYU games. So I usually go to a sports bar to watch the games.

One day, Greg called me out of the blue, I was at a Sports Bar in Los Gatos, he said "Matt, where are you?" I told him I was at this sports bar getting ready to watch the BYU game. He said cool, talk to you later. Ten minutes later here walks in Greg Madsen. He sits down, orders an appetizer and we proceed to watch the game together. What he didn't realize, is that he saved me that day. I wanted to order a pitcher of beer, one of my vices/addictions that I struggle with. I had this feeling not to order it. And now I know why.
