Hawk in the 303 All-American
As an aside, I have always cringed over the years when I've heard Norm Chow...
...referred to as "the greatest, most innovative offensive mind in college football". This article indirectly hits on Norm Chow's strength -- he was smart enough to recognize Scovil's genius (with minor influence from guys like Dwain Painter, Ted Tolner, etc.), tweeking it mildly when needed, but remaining a good steward over that which he inherited. I'm not saying Norm wasn't a good OC, but I always felt he received a LOT of credit and praise for maintaining and implementing (at subsequent stops) Doug Scovil's offense.
