You could argue our best years ranking national relevance were during MWC/WAC
Indy has got us on ESPN and national TV more than before that and the money but the bowl tie ins with Indy have been bad. The advantage with the conference is the bowl feels more like a reward and you're playing a better opponent. We played Wyoming last year... the conference we're "better" than because of indy. The basketball team has done worse than when we were in the MWC. You could argue that Utah getting in the p12 while BYU struggling with Indy and the WCC has damaged BYU. Some argue going back to a G5 is giving up I'd argue it would be more competitive and a better fit sitting Indy forever isn't the best solution and we all know waiting for the pipe dream P5 invite will never happen.

You have to take the statement in context. The context is competing with P5 schools as an independent is not sustainable
