As a BYU fan living in Georgia, I always wondered why the Georgia mascot
is an English Bulldog and not an American Bulldog. The English Bulldog is an extremely loyal breed of dog. But it can't swim, has a poor sense of smell, can't breathe very well, doesn't run very fast, chokes on its food, and is prone to all kinds of genetic defects due to its terrible breeding.

The American Bulldog breed was saved by John D. Johnson of Sommerville, GA. It's athletic, strong, fast and is used in all types of hunting and farm applications. They're used to track and pin down feral pigs, guard the farm against predators, etc.

But, given Georgia's history of being ranked in the Top 10 every year and finishing the season unranked, it all makes sense now, doesn't it? Just like the English Bulldog, Georgia's football team can't run, block, throw or catch very well. The Bulldogs tend to choke at higher elevations (especially in areas of Tennessee), and the Bulldogs are very loyal to their owners in Alabama. Even though Tide beats the crap out them time and time again, the Bulldogs never fight back and always roll over for Saban. So in retrospect, the English Bulldog is the perfect mascot for UGA.
