I've heard him say these same things. In the context of his statements, he
has usually mentioned how many fans (CB and social media I presume) don't think we're going to be very good. He says he believes that they will be surprised. Was he saying we'll top the league? No, but he believes that this team will compete well.

As far as comments go that the team/players have a lot of work to do, all I can say is "Wish granted!". I know we were disappointed with the results last year, especially due to several years worth of expectations, but that disappointment was nothing compared to that which the players felt, and has fueled their off-season training and workouts. Schroyer has also also had a great influence.

The area of concern is still the emergence of a big man.

If Rose really believes his team will be better this year, I have no problem with him sharing those feelings. Whether he says, "I think we'll be good" or "We need a lot of work" is really of little consequence.
