In the end its a money game... and there is no doubt that the playoff games generate the most money by far
As a result, the NY6 games have decreased in popularity... ESPN may not want it right now, because of their woes, but no doubt if they are added, they will demand top dollar television money (which ultimately goes to conferences)... I've seen a lot of P5 programs be in favor of more playoff slots.
