One thing that is very important.....it is not the volume of heat put into a room but the amount of
circulation each room has. Your heating or cooling will not get better by introducing more heat or cool air if you don't have good circulation.

Some house (typically older) has only one place for cold air return. People then close a door to a room without a separate cold air return. and then wonder why the room gets colder.

Basements are notorious for not having cold air return except at the furnace.
