The article seems a bit misleading to me ...
The one who died Saturday is directly related to football contact, the 2nd from "one of the deadliest college football Saturdays in decades" actually died Monday after "reportedly cramping and hyperventilating in the locker room after Saturday's game". No cause of death could be determined in that case, so it may not have been caused by football at all. The other 3 aren't detailed, but the author goes on to say that the leading cause is training in the off-season, so it doesn't seem like football contact really needs to be villanized. No doubt there is risk of injury, and sometime serious, but death is very rare. I suspect you are more likely to die in an auto accident than on the football field, and that doesn't mean I should keep our kids from driving (although given I have 3 driving now and a 4th about to start, my insurance rates might drive me to an early death).
