(Not sure about the category, but whatever)
Every month I get an emailed report of my home energy use from Rocky Mountain Power. My report shows I use a lot more power than those around me. I don't quite understand why.
1) We don't have AC, we have a swamp cooler which is supposed to use a lot less power.
2) We have either LED or mini-florescent bulbs throughout the house.
3) We have a gas clothes dryer and gas furnace.
4) I'm a stickler for turning off lights and devices when not in use.
What is the deal? I do have an older secondary fridge, so maybe that's an issue. But that much? What other power drains might I be missing? Sometimes I really wonder about the accuracy of this report, but maybe there's something huge I'm missing.
I know a lot of homes in my area have gone solar, while I haven't--they will always use less power than me. But that's also not really a fair comparison, but maybe RMP is trying to move more people to solar.
