I don’t watch the NFL much, but my understanding is that the NFL offenses have adopted more spread concepts, even if they don’t use the read option.

The Patriots take about 50% of their snaps in the shotgun formation. Even the lowest shotgun team, the Atlanta Falcons, still take over a third of their snaps out of the shotgun formation. How often does BYU’s offense use the shotgun formation.

I’m not an X’s and O’s guy, so basically what I’m asking is does Detmer’s offense resemble modern NFL offenses, or more outdated NFL offenses from back when he was playing?
