kosmokramer Walk-on
I have a fairly well connected booster friend that I recently asked about Indy

He shared that most of the support for Indy is coming from the higher ups at the university and the church.  They love BYUtv, the exposure on ESPN, and being in Control. However, many within the athletic department, specifically coaches, would prefer to go back to a conference (P5 absolutely prefered, but G5 was better than Indy).   I do know from an extended personal conversation I had with Bronco during his last year, he was not in favor of Independence and felt it was not sustainable much longer.  I know there were some public comments he made that alluded to as much, but in my conversation with him, he went into quite a bit of detail about why he felt it was a competative disadvantage.  He did say he and Tom were trying to help the board see the why Indy wasn't going to work long term.  I don't know how this specific season might be shifting the feelings of the board, but I think it is safe to assume they are starting to see what Bronco was seeing several years ago.

For the sake of the program lets hope we get out of Indy sooner and more on our own terms than waiting too long for the program to fall even further behind.

I still ask, what does "unsustainable" mean in context of BYU Independence? (boogers, Sep 25, 2017 at 3:00pm)
