Who said anything about losing money? This is about revenue generation.
Indy revenues are way higher than G5 BYU revenue. Indy revenue for BYU is higher than G5 revenue for any G5 school. Indy revenue actually puts BYU close to bottom level P5 schools.
BYU will NEVER keep up wit hthe top 20 revenue schools. Not even with a P5 bid. But it could keep up with the mid tier with one. But absent it, only way to keep up to teh bottom of P5 revenues is to stay Indy. Go back to G5 and revenues will go down. Which means less spending, and a wider gap between P5s.
