I can see the NCAA violations in this -- no question. But what are the laws
that were broken? I know they are calling them bribes, but to me a bribe is a payment to a public official for favors. If a payment is made to a private individual, isn't this just a payment for that persons services (e.g., a payment to a lobbyist).

Is it a bribe because the person is employed by a state university?

Really looking for some legal clarification here.
