250 years ago they sure helped us out. Of course, it was entirely self serving. They didn't care at all for the cause of America, only that they wanted to weaken England. But yes...they helped. They mocked us, degraded us, and used us as a puppet, but yes, their support proved pivotal.

And yes, France was our ally in the 20th century. They surrendered faster than a Spanish flop, but technically they were our ally. And how have they thanked us after we bailed them out?
