The story of taking a hill at great cost was repeated over and over and over. Our family friend was a platoon commander at the battle for Hamburger Hill and that was exactly the same thing. Another friend choppered in to areas over and over again in attempts to drive the NVA out. Madness. Another friend lost many fellow soldiers in an attack on the fire support base they were tasked with defending. One was a young man aged 18 who was only in country a very short time. Watching this series struck very close to home as I have a 19 year old who would be prime age if the draft were ever to come back into force.
