There has been a trend as of late of insurance companies making extremely low offers on totaled vehicles. My in-laws just settled with one of the big insurers when their car was rear-ended and totaled. What's crazy is they had it all on video and the company wouldn't pay out.
My father-in-law suffered whiplash and had to go to the emergency room and a chiropractor and they wouldn't pay for it. They offered 3,000 less than what their car was worth. They sued and won but it took years.
What's crazy is how much they spent on a lawyer to fight it when they could have just paid out and save themselves thousands of dollars.
