champ goes to the NY6 game, because the top team g5 gets a slot in an ny6.
so, in essence, we are a p5 league (unrecognized of course) because we are playing for an ny6 game slot every year. same thing 90% of the p5 teams are doing. are we REALLY a p5 league in that scenario? no.
but we could get that spot about 1/4 of the time if we got things rolling, imo. in all reality, that's probably the best byu should aim for...aim a little lower.
is it the same money as p5? no. is it the same "league" or level as utah is or the p5 teams are? no. would the p5 leagues one day say, "you know what? you guys are a elite, we are now the p6!" no. but its something. and better than indy. gives us a clear goal at the end of every year. and basketball gets better.
no more pie in the sky "national championship" BS. its an attainable, reachable level. unless the byu admin (church) somehow changed their tune on a lot of things regarding byu football (demolishing the hc, hiring non lds coaches, dumping in a lot of money) this is probably the best we can do.
