The high debt load is a lot to carry if your spouse is nervous
It’s essy for outsiders to say take the risk and go big, but the debt going bigger sometimes becomes more than owners can handle and you lose it all. A friend of mine has this with his landscaping business, easy business now, does around $500k a year, able to pay decent wages and can pay himself around $80k or so a year. Sold it, and used the proceeds and more debt to buy a bigger company. Around about $1.5m a year, but by the time he could pay himself, he was like $100k but his new debt and the headache of triple the crew and jobs out there, were not worth the slight increase let alone the debt he carried each month.

Every business is unique, don’t go big for similar take home and double the stress.
