It's a positive to be supportive of a 3 w team, but that'll support will wane.
I'd assert having a sub .500 program does not serve BYU's goals of having sports in the first place--it's to attract positive exposure to BYU and in turn its sponsoring institution. Not that we should cancel the programs due to losing seasons, but it would argue we should invest enough to reach success. I'm not sure, however, that means we should use the widow's mite to pay exorbitant market salaries on coaches in great demand, unless you view that as an investment in exchange for the millions to be gained by being part of the big time / P5. I just figure that part of football is distasteful enough (chasing the almighty dollar) it's possible BYU is just not ready / willing to play that game.
