RE: What is the worst work of renowned classic literature?
Completely subjective. Personally, I can't stand Twain. I think Catcher in the Rye is great. I had to read The Iliad in a weekend once at BYU. Procrastination sucks. What's often more interesting than many "classic" books themselves, is that they are even considered to be a classic. Same thing with movies. Many people think Citizen Kane is one of the best movies of all time. I was underwhelmed.
