For many, simply feeling a certain way about some controversial topics is more than enough to ignore them because some want only opinions they agree with.

I think your “very, very few” estimation is incorrect based on ignores I’ve picked up and ignores I know others have picked up. There are many who have ignored like 50+ people! It’s about disagreement more than someone being a jerk imo.
