It was mildly incredible to listen to post game interviews and hear how the players sound like mini-versions of Kalani. It also made me think how much players sounded like Bronco in his era.
There is a lot wrong with BYU. Scheme, talent, injuries, etc. But I think the most fundamental issue is one of culture. We see it on the field, we hear about it off.
Kalani wanted to be the cool coach and run the fun program.
He missed the mark and became the easy coach running the laxs program. Kalani gave an inch, the players took a foot.
And him all but saying it's somebody else's fault for the coaching problems is going to blow up in his face.
He needs to make changes on staff AND make a wholesale change to his management and coaching style. The first part is important as a part of the style change.
That's what it looks like to me, at least.
