coaching... I know that was one of the big final debating points, as BYU has offered Ty a qb coaching job a few different times (including last year), but he was only willing to move for a Coordinator job.
It would have been much better for him to bring a more experienced (probably non-lds) D1 offensive coach and learn some of the "wrinkles" that he is no doubt not as familiar with. To have assumed because he was such a good player of the game and lasted in the NFL long would convert into a good coach (with no training) was a huge longshot to begin with...These are completely different skill sets... He could have coached under a coach with experience, get to know D1 college all over again, and possibly grow into a good coach in the future...
Now he has completely tainted his coaching brand, and its a hard road to come back from...He will be lucky to get much offers in D1 and will have to start at the bottom all over again.. Its a shame, because no doubt its effected his BYU legacy. I'm just hoping we can come up with a graceful transition for him to where he doesn't hold a grudge towards BYU and the fans, because I love Ty the guy and our HOF qb, just not Ty the OC.
