For me, again, it was very cliché
The technical corporal who has a typewriter but is too much of a coward to save anyone or fight until the end when he sees his captain killed by the very man he let go free.

Or the Jew who was killed in a hand to hand fight with a Waffen SS soldier by a captured Hitler Youth knife he was given earlier in the movie.

It tries to hard to be ironic. It was like taking Vietnam angst and dysphoria and mixing it with World War II.
