This is a young, shallow team that has so, so many holes in it and is not going to sniff the tourney this year.  Niagara is a team you should blow away at home and the embarrassing home performances the last couple years are starting to pile up.  Tonight it was again defensively.  But I hope at least they are starting to find their identity a few games into this so we can get to the NIT.  They are clearly not a consistent three-point shooting team.  Can get hot, but you can't rely on that.

What BYU has this year is a great FT shooting team with a trio of pretty good ball-handling guards, and that's what the focus of the offense needs to be.  Penetration, penetration, penetration, and good, quick interior passing.  Also, if you've got an open Haws or Seljaas on the wing, hit him with the rock.  But I liked offensively tonight we weren't in love with the 3pt shot.  Instead, it came as we opened up the floor with dribble drives and this led to high percentage shots.

They HAVE to cut back on stupid turnovers.  Most of the errors I see are guys out of control, trying to do much, trying to make a pass into a tight window, etc.  Unforced errors.  I don't see our ball handlers getting their pockets picked and outskilled in that way.  Instead I'm seeing pretty good things normally happen when we are driving into the lane and forcing defenses to collapse, as long as guys are seeing the pass.  Admittedly they are often missing wide-open teammates.  That's the point of emphasis for the coaches right there.  You have your identity, just clean up the execution.

Nixon - love how hard he plays, but he has to be more in control on offense.  Rushing too many things.  Also had the ball in the low post a couple times, should have had easy scores, and didn't go up strong enough.  I think he'll eventually get there however.
