don't care if it's not truly the first, or a little embellished, or politically incorrect, it's a great story. The Pilgrims spent a freezing first winter in Plymouth, and after repelling attack after attack by Native Americans they made an alliance with the Wampanoags who were also under attack from various other Native Tribes and who had nearly been decimated by European diseases. It was a much needed alliance and together in the spring they planted food, caught fish, and built houses and finally when autumn came, they gathered together to rejoice the fruit of their labors. I can only imagine after suffering such hardships the previous winter how grateful both groups must have been to be in a better situation with the help of each other.
It's a great story. It's about two diverse people coming together under great hardships and overcoming them by helping one another.
Some of us have real hardships today, some of us have trivial hardships. But if we really sit down and reflect on what we DO HAVE we all have a lot to be thankful for.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
