also willing to be comfortable hiring a staff (or keeping the existing staff) consisting of guys without significant, if any, college or pro coaching experience, or who coming from positions outside football? (Detmer, Mahe, Empey, etc) Right now the results of that situation aren't satisfactory to you, me or any of us.
I'm of the firm belief that successful college programs have either an elite level coach, or a very top notch staff with a solid coach, and ideally both. If we have a below average staff then I dont think we can have above average success. Do you?
So while you can say that money won't solve it, and use Texas as an appropriate example, I think the argument most appropriate is "doesnt more money for more experienced staff, staff with outside perspectives and experiences give you a better shot at competing?" To me the answer is a YES to this. (I wonder if an analogy of sports without a salary cap would also be appropriate - for example in MLB you increase our chances of success if you're willing to spend more - Dodgers, Astros, Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox, etc)
