Kalani only deserves more time because he is under contract and BYU will honor
it. But, he has sadly shown that all he knows is PR. Kalani knows how to work a crowd, to win over people with compliments, smiles and handshakes, but that he knows little about how to run a successful football program. And, when things go south, Kalani is quite adept and shifting blame and throwing others under the bus. Someone who manages that way does not deserve much of a leash in my opinion. I would feel better about Sitake if he was making as many excuses for the bad offense as he does for the bad defense, if he would publicly promote that the team wins or loses as a unit, avoiding blaming a loss on one particular unit. I would feel better about Sitake if he acted like he was part of the game plan, if he were to take charge on the sidelines, fire up his guys, be a stern disciplinarian whose primary objective was winning, instilling into his players that losing is never an option. I could accept a three win season if Sitake demonstrated that he was building something great for the future. However, he has not given us that vision. He has not acted in a way that sows seeds of confidence. Sitake just looks like a deer in headlights and says things publicly that are head scratchers. He loves to blame and act as though he has no input in game planning, game management, etc. It's so strange.

I don't think Sitake lasts long. And when he goes, there will likely be a lot of bad blood between BYU and the Poly community, unless Sitake is retained in some kind of ambassador role. BYU is in a tough spot right now. Sitake isn't cutting it, is not showing that he can or will ever cut it, and BYU fans are not likely going to happily follow a team comprised of way too many players who are satisfied and "grateful" for just getting to wear the uniform - and if they win a few games, even better.
