Offered him essentially double his salary. Cecil was pretty miffed and said so to Kyle. Kyle said basically ‘offer me something, offer me anything more than what you are now and I’ll take it’. BYU wouldn’t do it.

I don’t know if it was Cecil that said no or the BOT. But I know BYU was under the impression that Kyle was on his way.

After the conversation I had today, I’m not sure the BOT is as committed to football as I wish they were...surprise.

But the person I was talking with thought that Holland would be a big proponent for us and probably Oaks. Elder Perry evidently was. But I’m now thinking that the BOT may make a decision by indecision. If I Had to guess, I think a very strong AD who would push the BOT may be able to get some help. But may also push them the wrong direction. A passive AD and we may not have any change until the last minute. Who knows. The BOT at BYU isnt tone deaf or dumb, but their priorities may not end up being what we’d all hope. Besides, Holland and Oaks are only a couple of voices; Elder Nelsen isn’t exactly a huge sports fan.

I hope there is exposure value for the church to BYU football that the BOT sees. If so, then maybe they take it seriously. If not then does BYU slowly crawl towards div2? I don’t know. Just some random musings and covering old ground. Evidently enough time has passed that some lips are looser now.
