Begs the question— how much time is too much to name new OC?
Premise #1: Part of the reason the offense struggled was a lack of playmakers at WR and RB.

If true, this premise tends to indicate that we need to get help from the recruiting front. A guy like Gunner could be important. JC players could also be important.

Premise #2: BYU is severely limited in recruiting offensive players because nobody wants to commit to a school where we have no idea what offense will be run.

If true as well, then the time to appoint a new OC is extremely limited. I don’t think, for example, waiting until after a bowl game or playoff game would be fast enough. EARLY SIGNING STARTS DECEMBER 20. That is 14 days from today.

Premise #3: it may already be too late to save or get some important recruits.

So yeah, I am a bit concerned.
