I wouldn't want his job. I don't think there's a more difficult AD position in
the country. Most ADs only have to worry about scheduling 2-3 non-conference games every season, but he's got to build a whole schedule without a conference. Unlike other programs, he's got a very small pool of coaches to hire from, a small budget for salaries and all kinds of extra restrictions no other AD has to deal with. He made a calculated risk to go independent as a gambit to get into a P5 only to have higher ups screw up the negotiations. It may be time for new blood, but I can't really fault Tom Holmoe for anything he's done.
