I’m afraid I disagree with the responses here and I think that’s really odd behavior.

Not sure why everyone is coddling. Is there stress in your life you need to deal with and resolve? Is there an opportunity for some self reflection here?

I agree with your wife. Slamming a door on a 3 year old seems like a red flag for something bigger.
