we didn't "almost beat utah". that game was not nearly as close as the
final score.
they were up 2 scores. and our offense couldn't move in 20 yards at a time vs them. and they knew it.
we had no chance of going 90 yards for the win. they could have given us the ball at their 30 and we would not have scored.

No. I just think that an overwhelming advantage wouldn't produce the closest games between any two teams in the country.
