This. Teaching them (by example) that apologizing is what you do when you mess
up is very important.

Also, parenting a headstrong child is a major challenge. But the upside is that once they are pointed in the right direction, that independent stubborn streak will serve them well throughout their life. You won't have to worry about them bowing to peer pressure or being bullied or being easily led astray by "faith shakers".

The trick is getting them to want to do what needs to be done in the first place.
