It actually was more then that, but that was the tipping point for me.
A coach can only work with what he has. The best coach can take his recruits, gain their trust, and mold them to be better. He can identify those who can improve and where and build on that. They fight and work for him because they know he cares about them.
It is quite clear that Kalani got more and more negative as the season progressed. In any aspect of life it is hard to perform when you are constantly being scrutinized in a negative way. You get a sense that everything you may do is wrong and may be scrutinized and you will actually underperform. I lecture medical students, and you would be surprised how hard it is to perform when you fear public humiliation. I had a post graduate medical student who couldn't divide 63 by 9 in front of the group. So while I agree that saying "come on" is really no big deal. In that particular situation it was alarming to me. All the same I doubt KS will get more output from his players unless he changes his approach.
