have been in their homes, rubbed shoulders with them, and learned at their feet. And I can say this with complete confidence: neither one deserves public disparagement. I coached with Roger and against his sons. I served as a stake president and received instruction from President Bateman when he was in the Presidency of the Seventy. Some of the finest instruction I have received in both basketball and life came from each. Like all of us, as "a rough stone rolling" each man in his time had chips in need of knocking off and rough spots that needed polishing. That each of these men met and interacted in their professional capacities and ultimately had a face off is unfortunate, however it played out.
But I know this: Roger Reid stabilized the basketball program during both the Frank Arnold and Ladell Andersen eras. He knew the game and how to win. He was better with people than most CB patrons understand. He taught both basketball and life lessons. He is a noble man. And so is President Bateman. He knows the scriptures. He is faithful. He is a master teacher. Let's allow each of them to continue what's left of their lives without dragging them through the mud over and over.
