Shifting a clutch how to avoid burning out clutch
I've heard it's bad to ride a clutch. I often hold down the clutch when coming to a stop, is this bad to do? Is it best to pop it in neutral when coming to a stop then go back to first when ready to go?

Of course. Downshifting is normal shifting.

I would consider that improper downshifting.
