I can't believe UVU doesn't already...

have a football program. Isn't their current enrollment something like 35,000? It's ridiculous that a D-1 college of that size doesn't have a football team. It's positively un-american.

I think UVU could very quickly replace USU as the third best team in Utah, and over time challenge Utah and BYU for #'s 1 and 2. They would enjoy distinct recruiting advantages over the Aggies due to their location in a major population center (inner-city recruits from California and elsewhere might feel more at home in the sprawl of Utah County than in the semi-rural/agrarian confines of the Cache Valley). In fact, UVU would almost certainly be better suited to recruiting speed than BYU. Without the honor code, and given lower academic standards, UVU could land exactly the types of players that give BYU trouble. And due to its proximity to BYU, kids who didn't get offers from (and normally might have walked on at) BYU may gravitate towards UVU. Solid D-1 guys like Ben Criddle, Scott johnson, Andrew Rich and Luke Ashworth could end up wolverines instead of waiting around for a scholarship from the cougars.

UVU football could very quickly become a thorn in the sides of the Utes and the Cougars.
