controversy to begin with. It speaks volumes of our modern culture when a restaurant has to put limits on patrons who seek to gorge themselves silly.

I would rather go to a nice restaurant where I may fork out 30 to 50 bucks a head for dinner, but where I am welcome to sit and in a relaxing manner eat, drink and socialize with the company I am in.

Assembly line restaurants while enticing to me as a teenager who ate everything and in large quantities has definately lost its lustre to me as an adult.

I think that buffet style restaurants could score points by spending the money to create ambiance, and the patrons could spend 20 bucks on lunch. Let them go through the line once and once seated, keep their glassed full of whatever they are drinking. Cuvert bread or other small additions make the service aspect nicer, and you can avoid the porkbarrel crowd.
