I was talking with one of my buddies that I play ball with who has a son on Lone Peak's basketball team. My buddy was saying that TJ Hawes will end up being even better than Nick Emery. He said he'll be much better than Tyler Hawes as well. He's just really athletic (much more athletic than Tyler) and really long, I guess that TJ projects to be about 6'6". He foresees TJ having a shot at the NBA.

The bad news is that neither Nick or TJ are locks to come to BYU. Nick is pretty pumped about the teams back east that are interested in him and TJ likes Pac 12 basketball. One thing that may not be in our favor with TJ is that Tyler didn't have a very enjoyable freshman year at BYU. Tavernari treated him really poorly and refused to give him the ball just because Tyler was the big freshman recruit. Tavernari was such a piece of trash, I prepared for the worst every time he got the ball beyond the 3 point line. Rice really should have banned him from shooting beyond the arc. With TJ having just finished his freshman year though we have enough time for Tyler to get back from his mission and enjoy BYU (now that Tavernari is gone) before TJ commits anywhere. Maybe that will be enough to convince TJ to play some ball with his brother and keep it in the family.
